Most houses split utilities evenly and keep it simple: add each bill when it comes in, divide it by the number of roommates, and show everyone the actual bill. If one room is much bigger or someone works from home all day, agree on a different split up front. In TableCash the person who runs the house adds the bill with a photo, it splits into everyone's part, and each roommate sees what they were asked and why.
Even is the default and causes the fewest arguments: electric, gas, water, internet and trash, divided by the number of people. Split by room when the difference is real and lasting, like a couple sharing one room, a much bigger room, or a space heater running all winter. Decide before the first bill, not after a big one.
Each account is in someone's name, and that person pays the company. Spread them out if you can (one roommate has electric, another internet) so no one person carries all of it, or have the person who runs the house hold them all and collect once a month. Either way, write it down in your roommate agreement.
"Your part of electric is $41" lands better with the bill next to it. Utilities change every month, so seeing the real number ends the "why is it so high" conversation before it starts.
A card payment has a TableCash fee of 3.5% plus $1.49, which the roommate can add on top so you get their whole part. Paid another way, there's no fee. The rent can live in the same place: collect rent from roommates.
You run the house. Everyone else just opens a link.
